Vinyl Build

Plaquemine, LA — March 2003

As a partner in the Vinyl Partners for Humanity build, Dow's Chlor-Vinyl Business took part in the "Good Neighbor Blitz Build" in Plaquemine, Louisiana, in March 2003 — building five houses in seven days. More than 100 Dow employees from the Chlor-Vinyl business unit and the Plaquemine site joined in the work to build one of the five houses, which was sponsored by Dow.

The Dow-sponsored home, which is now home to a single mom and her two children, is a perfect example of cooperation among different people from the community joining together for a common purpose. Vinyl Partners for Humanity Project Manager Jim Kosinski of Midland, Michigan said, "Habitat for Humanity brings communities together to build homes and it's wonderful that our industry could be involved in such a community effort in Plaquemine."

The 2003 Good Neighbor Blitz Build also marked the mid-way point of a five-year, $1 million commitment by Dow as part of the Vinyl Partners for Humanity to build Habitat homes in Louisiana. Through the Vinyl Institute, the vinyl industry has supported Habitat for Humanity projects since 1995. Dow's Chlor-Vinyl Business is proud to be among the vinyl industry partners who are helping communities where vinyl is made.
