Jimmy Carter Work Project
Anniston, AL — June 2003 The Dow Chemical Company continued its support of Habitat for Humanity through the Jimmy Carter Work Project (JCWP) 2003, which took place in June 2003 simultaneously in three communities: Anniston, Alabama, LaGrange, Georgia and Valdosta, Georgia. A platinum sponsor of the JCWP 2003, Dow donated 82,790 board feet of STYROFOAM* extruded polystyrene insulation and 12,500 linear feet of STYROFOAM Sill Seal Foam Gasket to be used at all three locations. Dow also provided house sponsorships at Anniston and Valdosta, and employee and customer volunteers at the Anniston site. Dow Employees and Customers Lend a Hand The Anniston, LaGrange and Valdosta communities were selected for the JCWP 2003 build because they are among the first cities in the United States to become certified as 21st Century Challenge communities. Through the 21st Century Challenge, communities collaborate with Habitat for Humanity, government agencies, churches, civic organizations, foundations and individuals to rid their neighborhoods of substandard housing.
