Adhesion/Bonding

TRYMER™ core foam and STYROFOAM™ Panel Core are engineered for dependable adhesion and bonding in a wide range of composite applications.

TRYMER polyisocyanurate foam is compatible with thermoset resins and most solvent-based adhesives. Because of the foams’ smooth, uniform surface, resin can be applied more efficiently, reducing process costs. In demanding composite manufacturing and pultrusion processes, TRYMER foam is able to withstand very high temperatures up to 300°F and hold its shape, further contributing to integrity of the final product.

STYROFOAM Panel Core is produced with a dust-free planed surface ready for lamination using structural adhesives. The tight dimensional tolerances of STYROFOAM Panel Core ensures closer contact between core and facing, resulting in highly uniform bonds. It also minimizes panel joints “telescoping” through the facing. Produced in varying thicknesses, STYROFOAM Panel Core can be supplied with a grooved surface to enhance “keying” and bonding strength.

STYROFOAM Panel Core has a long, successful (and global) history of use with a wide range of facer materials, including steel, plywood, OSB (oriented strand board), chipboard, FRP and GRP (fiber- and glass-fiber-reinforced plastic).
