Oriented Sheet

Oriented sheet extrusion is a process to impart biaxial orientation in the film by stretching it in two directions simultaneously, the transverse and machine directions, respectively. The process is carried out in a device that grips the edges of the film and extends them to larger widths as the film moves from the inlet to the exit roller. The objective is to increase the modulus and strength of the film uniformly along the entire film plane. Polystyrene is widely used for clam shells and dairy containers (OPS).
