Chlorinated Solvents
For effective cleaning performance and optimum productivity
For fast and effective cleaning, chlorinated solvents remain the products of choice for metal cleaning and degreasing. Chlorinated solvents – including perchloroethylene and trichloroethylene – have been used for decades because of their non-flammability, high degreasing capabilities, low surface tension, and recycling potential.
SAFECHEM offers a wide range of chlorinated solvents supplied by The Dow Chemical Company, a world leader in chlorinated solvent chemistry. We also supply modified alcohol solvents from Dow. Here’s an overview of the solvents you can purchase or lease while utilizing the SAFECARE™ closed loop system…
Perchloroethylene
Perchloroethylene is a clear, heavy, colorless, non-flammable volatile liquid. It has no flash point, high solvency power, good recycling properties and is highly stable and pure. Available grades include:
|
Used only for vapor degreasing. An excellent solvent for heavy duty cleaning and degreasing where there are high levels of contamination. It is specially stabilized to prevent acid build-up in vapor degreasers. |
Trichloroethylene
Trichloroethylene is also a clear, heavy, colorless, non-flammable volatile liquid. It exhibits high solvency power, good recycling properties, high stability, and high purity. Available grade:
|
Highly stabilized for vapor degreasing. Its unique combination of stabilizers makes it especially effective for long-term use. The stabilizer system prevents the build-up of acid in the degreaser and also protects against metal corrosion and reaction in the solvent. |
Modified Alcohols
DOWCLENE™ modified alcohols are specially developed cleaning fluids based on modified alcohols (alkoxypropanols). Within their specific application areas they provide high precision cleaning results and they dry residue-free. All types are chemically very stable compounds, low in toxicity, and they offer good environmental compatibility.
|
Suitable for high performance cleaning applications such as removing grease and oil from metal parts and removing polishing and lapping pastes as well as metal fines. |
|
|
Excellent degreasing action. Enables the effective removal of polar and bipolar contamination in a single cleaning process. |
