TRAFFIDECK™ Waterproofing and Anti Slip Surfacing System Performance Secures Second Phase of Ballincollig Development

Birch Vale, UK- August 1, 2009

Following its impressive antiskid and waterproofing protection provided on the top deck of the first multi-storey car park at Ballincollig, Ireland, Dow Hyperlast’s TRAFFIDECK™ TD waterproofing and anti slip surfacing system has been selected by main contractor O’Flynn Construction as the protective coating for the second car park of this new development.

Developed by Dow Hyperlast, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company, and a leading developer of polyurethane materials for engineering polymers and systems, system is a 4-coat, high-build, lightweight system, which includes a spray elastomeric membrane. The wear coat is fully aggregated and sealed to provide an anti-skid surface available in a selection of colours enabling the delineation of running aisles, walkways and parking bays.

TRAFFIDECK™ waterproofing and anti slip surfacing system offers a distinct alternative to traditional waterproofing techniques, including unmatched system thickness, ability to manage awkward detailing, fast application, swift return to service and application at low temperatures. The system is odourless and non solvented.

O’Flynn Construction is developing the former military barracks site at Ballincollig to provide retail, office and housing accommodation, all with dedicated multi-storey car parking. Following its performance on the top deck of the first car park, where, according to O’Flynn Construction, TRAFFIDECK™ coatings require low maintenance and are easy to clean, Dow Hyperlast and installer Murphy Surface Coatings Ltd were selected to apply a TRAFFIDECK TD coating to the second Barracks Car Park.

Cork-based MSC Ltd, an approved installer of the TRAFFIDECK™ range for exposed decks, intermediate decks, green roofs, podiums and balconies, applied the coating to the top deck of the second car park, bringing the total area coated at Ballincollig to 6,000m2.
