Mojano Assisi Parking Selects VERDISEAL™ to Waterproof Living Roof of Hillside Car Park |

Attracting over a million visitors a year, the ancient town of Assisi in Italy now offers 300 brand new parking spaces in a modern underground car park concealed beneath a hillside living roof garden and protected with Dow Hyperlast’s VERDISEAL™ Waterproofing System. Designed to offer convenient parking, including boarding and disembarkation for tourist coaches, a shopping mall and a garden with magnificent views, Mojano Assisi Parking nestles under a hill to blend in with the town’s historical buildings. To enable the living roof to support a full garden while simultaneously protecting the car park structure from water and root invasion, Susegana-based Nord Resine SPA, a specialist building construction company and approved applicator. Nord Resine SPA applied the VERDISEAL coating, comprising primer, elastomeric membrane and robust wear coat, to 4,500 sq m of prepared concrete to create a seamless monolithic waterproofing coat accommodating the complex roof design and detailing. The VERDISEAL fully-bonded membrane was applied in liquid form, which, unlike sheet membrane, cannot be punctured during storage prior to use. The membrane creates no noxious odours and can be ‘cold’ applied by spray or hand, meaning it does not require the use of hot kettles or naked flames. Requiring no reinforcing sheets or flashings, VERDISEAL™ can be applied easily and consistently to vertical and horizontal surfaces including drains and upstands. It is ready for use within hours of application, even at low temperatures (5°C/41°F and rising), and is tough enough to withstand full construction traffic without any need for protection board.
