Community Story – Home is Where the Heart Is
Texas City employees sponsored a booth at the 2006 Texas City-La Marque Chamber clean up at the Texas City Dike.
Galveston County is home to Texas City Operations and we are committed to reaching out to our community through donations and volunteer work.
Community Projects
Texas City Operations Volunteers — including employees, retirees and family members — have donated more than 32,000 work hours and completed 200 major community projects since 2000. In 2006, Texas City Operations volunteers conducted a school supply drive, collecting much-needed materials for students, which benefited various area school districts.
Our community activities include the annual Trash Bash and International Coastal Cleanup at the Texas City Dike. Texas City Operations is also a contributor to the Sea Camp Program at Texas A&M, Junior Achievement of the Mainland, ,Texas City Independent School District Foundation for the Future, and the La Marque Education Foundation.
Community Grant Program
In 2006, TCO entered the third year of the Community Grant Program. The program gives local non-profit organizations the opportunity to apply for $2,000 and $5,000 grants. Last year over $42,000 was awarded to twelve organizations in the community. The grants funded a variety of programs including a volunteer parent support group for The Arc of the Gulf Coast and a reading improvement program for the La Marque Independent School District.
Shown above are the winners of the 2006 TCO Community Grant Program. They were honored at a reception held in October at the Doyle Convention Center in Texas City.
