In southern Brazoria County, Texas, it isn’t just what you say that matters - it’s what you do. For the past 65 years, the Dow’s Texas Operations site has been walking the talk, especially when it comes to community success. This fits hand-in-hand with Dow’s focus on the 2015 Sustainability Goals.

Dow’s ties with local communities begin with its employees. From local sports teams to student tutoring to helping build and repair homes for those in need, Dow’s people are at the forefront of community involvement in the Freeport area.

Throughout the year, Dow volunteers are involved with more than 50 local events such as Senior Citizen’s Day at the Brazoria County Fair, Neighbor Day with the local United Way and the Migration Celebration at the Brazoria Wildlife Refuge. Dow teams are always prominent participants at fund-raising events such as the MS 150 and the Relay for Life.

Employees of Dow also help children learn through programs such as Dow Promise and Striving To Achieve Reading Success (STARS.) Other community volunteers can be found helping out at annual beach and city-wide cleanups, the Martin Luther King Day Parade, Boys and Girls Club events, Habitat for Humanity builds, Rotary Club activities, Junior Achievement school programs and many other community initiatives.

Among the thousands of Dow volunteers who give freely of their time, some have opted to take on the greater challenges of positions on various community organizations’ boards and committees. Currently, Dow is proud that more than 60 local non-profit, government or educational boards include Dow employees among their members.

Dow is also proud of its local retiree population's volunteer efforts. Dow retirees can be found helping many different community groups such as food pantries, nature refuges, Sea Center Texas, Brazosport Memorial Hospital, Habitat for Humanity and local schools.

Walking the talk when it comes to community success is not just an idea at Dow Texas Operations – it is a way of life.
