Community Story – Working for Our Community

group

At Seadrift, we are committed to improving the world around us through science and technology. We believe that our diligence to setting the competitive standard will reflect a commitment to both our community and our shareholders.

Seadrift’s commitment to Sustainable Development is at the core of everything we do. Within the framework of social responsibility, environmental stewardship and economic development, we direct our efforts.

Social Responsibility

In 2006, Seadrift Operations, through the generosity of The Dow Chemical Company’s charitable giving program, provided $165,000 in funding to non-profit communities and public schools. In addition to the company’s charitable giving, site employees donated nearly $100,000 to local United Way agencies. The site also provided material and in-kind donations to assist the community.

Environmental Stewardship

2006 marked the 12th year of funding support and employee volunteer involvement in the communities’ Household Hazardous Waste Day collection and disposal event. We’re proud to share in a commitment for the responsible handling and disposal of wastes so future generations can enjoy a clean and healthy environment.

Education

Educational outreach programs included tutoring, mentoring, career and environmental presentations, hands-on science support, and involvement with at-risk youth for primary and secondary schools in Calhoun and Victoria counties. Seadrift continues to remain actively engaged with the Victoria College's two-year process operator and instrument technician programs and higher education outreach efforts with the University of Houston-Victoria.
