Improving the Quality of Life in Our Community

Science night
SCO volunteers give freely of their time to improve the quality of life in their communities. Here, Dow employees, Karen, Matthew and Livingston educate students and parents at Lakewood Elementary about the way chemistry works to change the state of objects, by using a vat of super-chilled liquid nitrogen to make ice cream.

LaBranche Wetlands
Middle school students learn about the wetlands at the LaBranche Wetland Watcher event, which was sponsored by Dow.

Dow Toy Drive
SCO employees donated gifts to more than 100 needy children during this holiday season. Children were selected from the company’s Partners-in-Education schools in St. Charles Parish, and SCO employees purchased and delivered gifts to the participating schools to give to the children. The Angel Tree program gives employees the opportunity to bring love and support to underprivileged children in the local community. Here, (sitting left to right) SCO employees Karen Davis, Amy Simoneaux, and Deborah Wilkinson (sitting), along with Santa (Stanley Dufrene) and Laquosha Marbley (standing far right), present the gifts for distribution to St. Rose Elementary employees (top row - left to right) Jenny Petty and Iman EnNabut.

If there is a community activity in the area, chances are there will be a St. Charles Operations (SCO) employee involved. From United Way to repairing homes to tutoring students, SCO volunteers give freely of their time to improve the quality of life in their communities. We recognize that employee involvement within the community fits hand-in-hand with the company focus on Sustainable Development.
