Number of Incidents

Although there was not an improvement in the number of reportable quantity and permit exceedences from 2005 to 2006, the improved performance from previous years was sustained. The programs implemented to drive improved performance in the number of leaks and spills have helped to maintain this level of performance.

Notices of Violations (NOV) and Compliance Orders

There was one Notice of Violation and one Compliance Order in 2006. The NOV was due to a late report of a release and the Compliance Order was associated with a new requirement in one of the new facilities on site. Both issues have been resolved.

Fines and Penalties

In 2006, SCO incurred a penalty of $1,750 due to the notice of a violation for the late report of a release.

Community Complaints

SCO works closely with St. Charles Parish Department of Emergency Preparedness (DEP) to respond to community complaints concerning any noise or odors in the area. We send personnel to investigate each complaint and report findings to the DEP. We also respond directly to the community member if appropriate. The community area is home to 10 manufacturing facilities in a five-mile radius.
