Emissions

Chemical Emissions

The total chemical emissions reported for 2006 are at the lowest level in this reporting history. The site was able to achieve a significant reduction in the reported chemical emissions for 2006. This decrease was achieved despite increase in production of approximately 2 billion pounds, and a new facility startup. The reduction in reported chemical emissions is a result of an improvement in our fugitive emissions program for the Olefins facility.

Disclaimer – Slight adjustments have been made in the emissions reported for 2004 and 2005. This adjustment was made based on a review of the data in the 2006 reporting period and a recognition of a need for a correction in the data reported.

Emissions of Priority Compounds

A significant decrease in priority compounds reported was achieved in 2006. This decrease was achieved through the upgrade of the fugitive emissions program for the Olefins facility.

Disclaimer – Slight adjustments have been made in the emissions reported for 2004 and 2005. This adjustment was due to a new reporting requirement for formaldehyde emissions on one of the facilities.

Emissions of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC)

The total emission of volatile organic compounds shows a 17% reduction. This reduction was also achieved though the improved fugitive emissions program in the Olefins facility.

CO2 Emissions per Pound of Production

The CO2 emission per pound of production shows a slight increase for 2006 vs. the last two years. This increase is mainly attributed to the increase in production for the site in 2006. Overall, there is significant amount of CO2 emissions in the history of reporting this metric for the site.
