New Investment and Site Rededication More
The economic prosperity of a city, state or nation is largely dependent on the amount and type of business being conducted there. Dow’s Michigan Operations serves as one of the strongest economic anchor points in our area, employing more than 3,000 people in the Tri-Cities. Add to this figure another 2,600 employees at Dow’s Corporate Headquarters in Midland. Currently, Dow is making significant site investments that will positively impact the prosperity of our area.
In this section, we will review how our site — through payroll, taxes and corporate purchases — impacts the community.
Capital Expenditures

Payroll
Figures include salary and hourly payrolls for all of Dow’s Midland employees — including headquarters and Michigan Operations.

Taxes
Taxes paid by any company are an important indication of its impact on the local economy. In 2006 in Michigan, Dow paid approximately $21 million in property taxes.
