Letter from the Site Leader — Charles Jackson

Dear Friends,

Charles Jackson

Last year was another great year for Texas City Operations. We continued on our journey toward outstanding safety performance. The site received the prestigious President’s Award for Excellence in Environment Health and Safety. This is the highest internal recognition for safety performance that a site can receive within Dow. This is the second year that the site has been recognized for excellent performance in health and process safety. We are especially proud to have earned this honor during a year in which we experienced the challenging event Hurricane Rita. Like so many in our industry we shutdown our operations as the storm approached. I am proud to report that we were able to shutdown and restart operations without any safety incidents. The safety performance in 2005 demonstrates the strong commitment that our employees have to operating our plant safely.

This year was also an outstanding financial success for Texas City Operations. We saw our profits rise as we continued to face a very challenging competitive global environment and increasing energy costs. Our goals for the future will be to continue this success while managing these critical factors.

In 2005, our commitment to being strong partners in the community remained strong. Our Community Grant Program moved into a second year. We provided over $41,000 to ten local non-profit organizations. Our employees for the third year held a successful golf tournament for the United Way. Our United Way contribution was over $125,000. These funds were provided to social service agencies in the community. We extended support to the Texas City-La Marque Chamber by making a generous contribution for the new office building. In addition, we donated gifts to support the College of the Mainland, Texas City Foundation for the Future and the La Marque Education Foundation.

We hope that you will review our site’s Public Report. It will give you a good overview of our success and improvements that we have made last year.
