Texas Operations is The Dow Chemical Company's largest integrated site, employing many people in Manufacturing and Engineering as well as in Research and Development. It is comprised of three major integrated complexes — Plant A, Plant B and Oyster Creek. The site is spread out over more than 5,000 acres with more than 75 individual production plants.
The products manufactured on-site are transported by rail, truck, marine vessel and pipeline to customers around the world. Texas Operations manufactures more than 46 percent of Dow's products sold in the United States and approximately 23 percent of Dow's products sold globally.
The site produces billions of pounds of product each year that enhance the quality of life for people around the globe. The site is a world-scale manufacturing complex for production of basic, fine and specialty chemicals, hydrocarbons, specialty polymers and agricultural chemicals.
Hundreds of products are produced every day, including polyethylene, propylene glycol, polyurethanes, epoxy resins, caustic soda and vinyl chloride — just to name a few. They are used in a variety of end-products — cosmetics, trash bags, automotive safety equipment, cars, computers, toothpaste, food and household cleaning products and more.
