Product Story — New Business for Dowpharma

In 2005, Dowpharma^SM began producing the active ingredient in a new sleep aid drug for Sepracor. Eszopiclone, or Lunesta as it is called in the marketplace, is manufactured in Michigan Operations’ 827 Building.

Lunesta is the first and only prescription sleep medication approved by the Food and Drug Administration for long-term use. Through the course of intensive studies, Lunesta has proven it does not lose effectiveness over time. Lunesta not only helps patients fall asleep faster, but helps them sleep longer, with fewer interruptions.

Michigan Operations’ ability to manufacture Lunesta shows the site’s commitment to growth and sustainability. The site has a long history in Midland and continues to grow into the future with emerging technologies and products that improve the quality of life for citizens everywhere.
