Seadrift Operations — Where Giving is Improved Daily

Congressional Habitat for Humanity Build in Victoria

To commemorate Seadrift Operations 50th Anniversary, the site was pleased to sponsor a Congressional Habitat for Humanity Build in Victoria. Seadrift employees volunteered more than 500 volunteer hours building this house, giving a "hand up" to a local family in need.

Good neighbors seem to always be there when you need them and Seadrift Operations employees are no exception!

Our employees are committed to volunteering in their communities with groups such as local fire departments, youth sports organizations, churches, classrooms.... and the list goes on.

This strong belief in caring and giving to others is something that's not left at home when our employees come to work. The Dow Chemical Company and subsidiaries like Union Carbide Corporation have long been recognized as companies that communities can count on for charitable contributions and "rolling up one’s sleeves."

Celebrating 50 years of operations in 2004 was but one reason that Seadrift Operations, with the generosity of The Dow Chemical Company Foundation, was privileged to help the Victoria Chapter of Habitat for Humanity complete its 50th home.

The site also launched a "Dow Community Grants Program" which helped identify and complete several community projects by providing more than $37,000 in funding.

United Way Chili Cook-off

Each year, Seadrift Operations employees join together to help raise money for the annual United Way campaign. In 2004, employees had several ways to contribute, including participating in the annual United Way Chili Cook-off, Silent Auction, Golf Tournament and Bake Sale, all benefiting local United Way agencies.

Other key initiatives included science and chemistry presentations to local public school students by the resident Science Demonstration Team and service as judges at science fairs by members of the site’s Affinity Networks.
