Contributions
The contributions and donations of Pittsburg Operations are designed to improve the quality of life for local residents in Eastern Contra Costa County and surrounding areas. All donations must support non-profit organizations. In 2004, Dow awarded $107,600 donation dollars into the community through 38 non-profit agencies, including a $20,000 grant to Los Medanos College Foundation for their new science and math building. Grants are determined based on projects that best match Dow’s criteria, which is primarily focused on math and science education, projects that improve or positively impact the environment or address today’s social issues.
Dow is the largest contributor to United Way in Eastern Contra Costa County. In 2004, employees generated $30,134 in campaign funding. Throughout Dow, employees donated a total of $3.7 million in funding to United Way’s across the nation.
