Community Advisory Councils (CACs)

Houston Operations is one of several companies involved with the Community Advisory Councils, in Deer Park and La Porte, Texas. At each location, the site manager and Environmental Health and Safety Leader attend CAC meetings. These meetings provide citizens with an opportunity to learn more about facility issues and plant operations.

The Deer Park Community Advisory Council has 33 community members and 16 sponsoring companies. The Citizens Advisory Council to La Porte has 16 community members and 37 sponsoring companies. Community member attendance for both panels is approximately 60%.

Citizen's Advisory Council to La Porte Industry
Last year the CAC in La Porte conducted safety and emissions reports. This group also discussed improvements that plants need to consider to improve emergency response plans and actions.

Deer Park Community Advisory Council
In 2004, the Deer Park Community Advisory Council examined a number of industry topics of interest to the community. These topics ranged from annual emissions and air monitoring to reviewing the State Implementation Plan. The Deer Park CAC heard from a number of experts during the course of the year that provided information on the research that is being done regarding air quality issues in the Houston area.
