| Dow's principal means of measuring progress on climate change is by improving greenhouse gas (GHG) intensity – a measurement of direct GHG emissions per unit of production. While Dow has not yet set a specific numeric GHG reduction goal, our program to reduce the amount of energy used per unit of production by two percent per year from 1995 to 2005 continues to drive improvements in GHG intensity. An eight percent reduction of emission intensity was achieved in 2003 versus 2002, resulting in an overall reduction of 45 percent since the 1994 base year. We have achieved this through improvements in energy efficiency and implementation of climate-friendly technologies. |
