We achieved low levels and continue to work to maintain these levels.
CO2 Emissions per Kilogram of Production
Steam production was outsourced in 2001. Steam is now purchased for the entire site. The third party from whom Dow purchases steam replaced old steam boilers with state-of-the-art technology, which led to significant reduction of CO2 emissions for the entire site environment.
Emissions of Priority Compounds
The Rhine Center is close to reaching its goal for emission levels of priority compounds. Work to continuously maintain or further reduce these levels is on-going.
The reduction of the emissions of priority compounds starting with the year 1996 is primarily due to emission sources having been incorporated into a closed vent system as well as to reliability improvements in the vent system.
Emissions of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC)
A new blowing agent was introduced for the production of STYROFOAM* to substitute ozone-depleting substances.
