Waste
Waste includes all solid waste generated except salts. Because the total varies widely with the volume of product produced in any one year and with the increasing number of plants, it is measured on the basis of kilograms of waste per kilogram of product. |

Wastewater
Process wastewater is water which has come into contact with process chemicals and therefore is treated to remove chemicals before discharge. The volume of wastewater is measured in relation to the volume of annual production. (The 1997-98 Pacific number reflects temporary shut down of a major facility.) |
