Sustainable Chemistry
At Dow, we believe that sustainable chemistry goes well beyond mitigating the unintended consequences of chemistry. We see it as a breakthrough approach to innovative problem-solving and providing sustainable solutions to critical global challenges. That's why we've adopted Sustainable Chemistry as a significant corporate commitment. This is based on a "cradle-to-cradle" concept that drives us to use resources more efficiently, minimize our environmental footprint, provide value to our customers and stakeholders, deliver solutions, and enhance the quality of life for current and future generations.
Our Goals
As part of the 2015 Sustainability Goals, Dow has committed to making product safety assessments available online to the public for all products globally. In addition to providing this information to the public, Dow is continuing to take appropriate action based on these assessments to protect human health and the environment throughout the life cycle.
Dow is also committed to being actively engaged globally with regulators and other stakeholders in advocating for updated and risk-based chemicals management regulations and standards.
Our Actions
Dow is dedicated to serving as a leader in the chemical industry. During the past several years, Dow has led efforts with the International Council of Chemistry Associations (ICCA) to continue the advancement of chemicals management initiatives, including the industry’s Responsible Care® Global Charter and Global Product Strategy (GPS).
As a leader and participant in GPS, Dow is helping the global chemistry industry to be more transparent by providing access to information for co-producers, customers, government officials and the public. Dow has led the way in publishing Product Safety Assessments (PSAs) online, and is on track to achieve the company's goal of posting PSAs for all Dow products by 2015.
