Dow Employs New Drum Specifications for DPG and TPG

Midland, MI - December 22, 2005

Effective January 1, 2006, the PO/PG business of Dow will upgrade its drums to the new 55AG (216.5L) tight head metal drum for the packaging of all grades of Dipropylene Glycol and Tripropylene Glycol R in North America.

The new drums will take advantage of an improved design that reduces packaging waste without sacrificing the performance of the vessel. The drum's height and width have remained the same, eliminating the need for new drum handling procedures. Advantages of this new packaging include improvements that were made to the W-hoop configuration, the standardized internal coating, vacuum resistance and much more.

"We had two objectives in mind when we set out to improve our drum packaging," stated Dennis Reiswig, Senior Quality Specialist for PO/PG at Dow. "We wanted to offer our customers the most advanced drum design without causing them to change their current drum handling procedures."
