Dow Provides Update on Status of MPG and DPG from Plaquemine

Midland, MI - September 07, 2005

The Dow Chemical Company ("Dow") provided an update regarding the force majeure situation resulting from Hurricane Katrina for the Monopropylene Glycol (MPG) and Dipropylene Glycol (DPG) produced at Plaquemine, La.

"The plant equipment at the site was not damaged during the hurricane and has been returned to operation. Barring unforeseen circumstances, the plant is expected to return to normal production levels over the next several days," said Antulio Borneo, Commercial Director, Dow Oxides & Glycols.

Effective immediately and until further notice, the company will allocate available MPG and DPG at 90 percent of customers' monthly average volume of the last twelve months. Products included in this allocation are: Propylene Glycol Industrial Grade, Propylene Glycol USP/EP Grade, Dipropylene Glycol Regular Grade and Dipropylene Glycol LO+ Grade. Based on current inventories of Tripropylene Glycol, no current need exists to allocate TPG Regular Grade or TPG Acrylate Grade, at this point in time.

"Transportation and logistics continue to be constrained on the Gulf Coast and Southeastern United States as a result of the hurricane's impact and are likely to continue to present supply disruptions over the coming months," said Borneo. "Based on current assessments, this situation could last through the end of October."
