Dow Announces Price Increase for Propylene Glycols and Propylene Oxide

Midland, MI - February 01, 2005

The Dow Chemical Company has announced that effective March 1, 2005, it will increase prices for its propylene oxide and propylene glycol products. Prices will increase by $0.05/lb (US$110/MT) in North America and Latin America for propylene glycol industrial (PGI), propylene glycol USP/EP (PGUSP/EP), dipropylene glycol (DPG), dipropylene glycol LO+, tripropylene glycol and tripropylene glycol acrylate grade (TPG Ac).

Dow will also increase propylene oxide prices by $0.10/lb (US$220/MT) in North and Latin America, effective on the same date.

Additionally, Dow will maintain its 80% order control in North America for all aforementioned products until further notice.

"The overall supply/demand situation in propylene glycol and propylene oxide remains tight, and we do not see any respite in the near term," said Antulio Borneo, commercial director, Dow Oxides and Glycols. "High seasonal demand for PG and tight supply of propylene monomer, a key raw material in the production of propylene glycol, have also influenced Dow's decision to increase prices for its products."
