| Chlorinated Solvents & Intermediates | Provide chloride source for catalyst regeneration, ISOFORM* isomerization grade, ISOFORM reforming grade, perchloroethylene, trichloroethylene, methylene chloride, methyl chloride |
| Coolants | NORKOOL** inhibited glycol-based coolant formulated for industrial applications. AMBITROL* inhibited glycol-based coolants designed for stationary engines running compressors to transit natural gas through pipeline distribution systems. |
| Dow Polyglycols | Products include: Dow Polypropylene Glycols and EO/PO Copolymers |
| Ethanolamines | Removal of acidic components from natural gas and scrub impurities in refinery gas and ammonia production. UCARSOL** Gas Treating Amines and SELEXOL** solvents, remove carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide and other impurities from natural and refinery gases. The UCARSEP** Amine Reclamation System removes heat-stable salts on-line. A full range of gas treating services is also provided. |
| Ethylene Glycols (EG) | Ethylene glycols (EG) and their derivatives play a significant role in industry due to their function as versatile intermediates in a wide range of applications. Dow manufactures monoethylene glycol (MEG), diethylene glycol (DEG), triethylene glycol (TEG) and tetraethylene glycol (TETRA EG) products for a wide variety of applications including PET resins, films, fibers, antifreezes, coolants, aircraft anti-icer and deicers, heat transfer fluids, solvents, inks, and gas dehydration and treating. |
| Ethylene Oxide (EO) | Ethylene oxide (EO) is a versatile intermediate used in the production of ethylene glycol and other oxide derivatives such as glycol ethers, polyethylene glycol, polyether polyols, diethylene and triethylene glycols and ethanolamines. |
| Gas Treating Products & Services | Advanced gas treatment products and technology including UCARSOL** solvents, DOW Specialty Amines, SELEXOL** and UCARSEP** Amine Reclamation System, UCARKLEAN** solutions, DOW Gas Treating Chelants, and RT-2 Technology. |
| Glycols | Diethylene and triethylene glycols are used to inhibit hydrate formation in natural gas and eliminate freezing of moisture in transmission lines and formation of hydrocarbon hydrates. |
| Haltermann Products | HALPASOL**, HALPANAL** lamp oils |
| Heat Transfer Fluids | DOWTHERM* Q for waste heat recovery in LNG and oil applications, solvent regeneration and natural gas purification. SYLTHERM† silicone fluids for oil sands recovery. |
| Isopropanolamines | Used in gas conditioning where greater selectivity than ethanolamines to CO2 and H2S is required. Neutralizes crude oil to reduce corrosion. |
| Polyglycols | Uses of polyglycols include acid gas treatment, crude oil demulsifiers, drilling fluid additives, fuel additives; metal corrosion inhibitors in oil wells producing brine that contains hydrogen sulfide or carbon dioxide, modifiers for silica-filled petroleum asphalt to improve softening points, temperature susceptibility, and high resistance to flow and as selective solvents for removing halogens from hydrocarbons. |
| Polypropylene Glycols and Copolymers | Used for acid gas treatment, as a crude oil demulsifier, as a decolorizer for distillate-type fuel oils and for a variety of other applications. |
| Polyurethane Systems | Polyurethane spray foams, polyurethane foam sealants, polyurethane adhesives, portable kits, refillable tanks, accessories, roofing adhesives, polyurethane and urethane components, geotechnical foam, hydrophilic polyurethane prepolymers, reaction moldable products, polymers, industrial adhesives, binders, encapsulants and chemical compositions |
| Propylene Glycols | Propylene Glycols (PG) play a significant role in the manufacture of many industrial and end-use products, such as: antifreezes; coolants; aircraft and runway deicing fluids; heat transfer fluids; solvent fluids; flavors and fragrances; cosmetics and personal care products; pharmaceuticals; chemical intermediates; hydraulic fluids; plasticizers and thermoset plastics. Dow’s extensive, global PG and derivatives offering includes: Propylene Glycol Industrial Grade (PGI); Propylene Glycol USP/EP Grade (PG USP/EP); Dipropylene Glycol Regular Grade (DPG); Dipropylene Glycol LO+ Grade (DPG LO+); Tripropylene Glycol Regular Grade (TPG) and Tripropylene Glycol Acrylate Grade (TPG Ac). |
| Propylene Oxide | Propylene Oxide is a versatile chemical intermediate used in a wide range of industrial and commercial products, including polyether polyols, propylene glycols and propylene glycol ethers. Polyether polyols are one of the main components in the production of urethanes, which are used in many consumer applications, such as rigid foam insulation and flexible foam seat cushions. Propylene glycols are used in a wide variety of end-use applications, from cosmetics and household detergents to paints and automotive brake fluids. Other products made using propylene oxide are: flame retardants, modified carbohydrates (starches), synthetic lubricants, oil-drilling chemicals and textile surfactants. |
| Sulfate Removal | Waterflood injection operations for offshore oil production can benefit from low-sulfate water. By selectively removing sulfate from the injected seawater, FILMTEC membranes are able to prevent barium sulfate scaling and the associated loss of reservoir flow. |
| Surfactants | A variety of surfactants for oilfield applications. |
| UCON™ Compressor Lubricants | The broad product line of UCON™ formulated fluids and lubricants and base stocks include products that outperform petroleum, animal and vegetable oils. |
| VERSENE™ Chelating Agents | VERSENE™ Chelating Agents are used in drilling, production, and recovery of oil. They can prevent plugging caused by iron precipitation during stimulation and fracturing. Used for scale removal and prevention on well casings and boilers used for enhanced oil recovery steam flooding. |
| Well Drilling Lubricants | Styrene-DVB copolymer beads can be used as 'plastic ball bearings' to lubricate drilling operations. |
