ADCOTE™ 545S/Coreactant F

Description

ADCOTE 545S/Coreactant F is a solvent based 2-component polyurethane adhesive with highest chemical and temperature resistance.

Application

ADCOTE 545S/Coreactant F is suitable for the lamination of films such as PETP, PA, PP, PE (including EVA types) as well as metallized and aluminium foil structures. Films should be printed with suitable inks for lamination.

This adhesive has high heat and product resistance for packaging applications like boil-in-bag, aggressive materials such as tomato concentrates, soaps and cosmetics.

An inter-reaction between the adhesive and other constituents of the laminated structures like printing inks, films, additives, coatings as well as with the packed product may occur.

Beside the desired effects, these inter-reactions may also lead to unforeseeable changes in quality.

Therefore, before regular production, the suitability of the adhesive for the structures to be produced and the intended applications must be proven by practice tests.

Food Legislation

ADCOTE 545S/Coreactant F is in accordance with the positive lists of FDA, CFR 21, §175.105.

The information provided relates to this specific product. We believe this information to be accurate and reliable as of this date. We recommend you make your own determination on the suitability of this product for your particular application.

Processing

ADCOTE 545S/Coreactant F can be applied at a solids content of 30-40%. Adhesive can be applied by reverse gravure, direct gravure or smooth roller system.

Ethyl acetate, acetone and MEK with a max. water content of 0.2% are suitable as diluents. Alcohols or alcohol containing solvents must not be used.

Application weight

2-5 gr/m2 (1.3–3 lb/ream) dry, depending on substrate, printing and application.

Drying

Drying has to remove solvents completely. Usually drying temperatures of 60-100°C (140-210°F) are sufficient.

ADCOTE 545S/Coreactant F should be dried in a proper way with sufficient amount of air and temperature to evaporate solvents at a given production speed.

Nip temperature

It should be worked with a laminating temperature of 60-90°C (140-190°F).

Pot Life

Dynamic: approx. 8 hrs.
Static: approx. 24 hrs.

Curing Time

Bond immediately off the laminator is good. Machineable bond develops within 48 hrs. Maximum chemical and thermal properties develop within 5-10 days.

Cleaning

A proper cleaning procedure should be considered and implemented as a part of machine operation. After finishing work the equipment should be cleaned immediately with organic solvents.

Storage

ADCOTE 545S/Coreactant F can be stored for at least 6 months at temperatures of 0-25°C (30-80°F) in closed original containers.

Note

This product is also available based on Ethyl acetate only.
