Processing Ease
As a thermoplastic, PRIMACOR* copolymers offer processing ease via a wide range of techniques. Available as pellets, PRIMACOR copolymers can be extruded and co-extruded into films and sheeting, injection molded, or fabricated in profile extrusions and more. With their exceptional melt strength, PRIMACOR copolymers have even been fabricated into foams. Additionally, they can be applied as extrusion coatings or as hot melt adhesives in continuously operated systems. They can also be formulated into aqueous dispersions.
Dispersions of PRIMACOR copolymers can be made in a stirred reactor using ammonia, ammonia derivatives, or alkali metal hydroxides, at solids contents ranging from 20 to 50 percent. Surface-active agents, protective colloids, or emulsifiers are not normally used in the manufacture of dispersions of PRIMACOR copolymers. It is possible to apply them using conventional aqueous coating equipment. Coatings from dispersions offer the same unique performance, plus a novel method for applying a thermoplastic coating.
