Dow to Highlight Latest Technical Developments at the 2009 CPI Technical Conference
Midland, MI - July 23, 2009 Dow Polyurethanes, a business group within The Dow Chemical Company (Dow), will highlight its latest technical developments at the upcoming Polyurethanes 2009 Technical Conference (CPI) held Oct. 5 – 7, in National Harbor, Maryland (Washington, D.C. area). Dow will showcase advancements for lowering volatile organic compounds in automotive interior foams, provide an overview of the formulation know-how for specialty foam products used in the bedding market, and talk about optimizing performance of polyisocyanurate foam insulation for building and construction. These and other topics will serve as a canvas for broader discussions of how to improve the sustainability of PU materials, tap new market opportunities, and maintain compliance with increasingly more stringent regulations. “The global recession has affected the entire chemical industry, and polyurethanes manufacturers and customers have certainly felt the impact,” says Doug Warner, business director for Dow Polyols, a business unit of Dow Polyurethanes. “But as economic stimulus plans are implemented around the world, new opportunities arise for polyurethanes. Strong focus on energy efficiency, eco-friendly manufacturing technologies and infrastructure improvements will drive demand for effective insulation, protective coatings and sustainable foam – products, where polyurethanes play a key role. To ensure our industry thrives, we need to look beyond the current market difficulties and continue to work on how to make PU products even better – in terms of performance, environmental impact and sustainability. CPI is a great opportunity for us to showcase our recent technological advancements and demonstrate our ongoing commitment to this industry.” Dow will present technical papers in the following categories during the conference: Session - Automotive 2: Innovations
Session - Construction 1: Building Blocks of the Construction Industry
Session - Construction 2: Insulation for the Building Envelope
Session - Flexible Foam
