Dow Completes Specialty Polyols Capability Expansion at its Freeport, Texas, Facility Additional specialty products to support customers in a range of downstream markets Midland, MI - July 02, 2009 The Dow Chemical Company (Dow) announced today that it has further developed its specialty polyols manufacturing capability at the Company’s Freeport, Texas, plant to meet the demand for differentiated polyurethane products from customers in the automotive, coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers, and furniture and bedding industries. Polyols manufactured at the Freeport site support demand for specialty products and systems in North America. "Sustained market needs in specialty products have been a driving factor in this capability enhancement," said Doug Warner, global director for Polyols at Dow Polyurethanes. "We want to make sure our customers have a family of differentiated products they need to remain successful, even in today’s challenging conditions. The completion of the project, which coincides with the closing of Dow’s Sarnia, Ontario, polyols facility announced in August 2006, further strengthens Dow’s competitiveness in today’s challenging economic environment.
