Dow Exhibiting at UTECH Asia/PU China 2008Offering innovative solutions to the marketplace

Hong Kong - August 27, 2008

The Polyurethanes business group of The Dow Chemical Company (“Dow”) will be exhibiting at UTECH Asia/PU China 2008, from September 3 to 5, at the Shanghai New International Expo Center.

Dow’s booth will be located at Hall E5, No. 150. In line with the booth theme, “Dow – Your Innovative Partner”, the booth will feature key applications like appliances, automotive, CASE, construction, flex slab and flex molded foams.

Mr. Kenny Ogawa, commercial director for Polyurethanes in Asia-Pacific said, “UTECH Asia/PU China is an important platform for us to showcase our Polyurethanes business as an innovative business partner. We have a program that not only gives us a visible trade show presence, but also focuses on building stronger customer relationships.”

He added, “Dow is committed to the long-term growth of the Polyurethanes business in the Asia Pacific region. We have in place strategies to accelerate our growth and the growth of our business partners. One major investment that will support our growth is the construction of a world-scale, 390 KTA propylene oxide manufacturing facility in Map Ta Phut, Thailand.”

The new plant, expected to complete in 2011, will use the innovative hydrogen peroxide to propylene oxide (HPPO) technology jointly developed by Dow and BASF. Propylene oxide is used to produce propylene glycol, polyurethanes and glycol ethers.

“We are also committed to developing our PU Systems capability by delivering value added solutions to our customers and helping them to capture growth opportunities,” added Mr. Kenny Ogawa. “In November of last year, Dow acquired the remaining shares of a joint venture to become the full owner of the PU systems house and polyols facility in Thailand. In addition, we also expanded our formulation capability at our PU systems house in Guangzhou this year. These investments reflect Dow’s ongoing strategy to invest and grow its portfolio of value-added performance products.”
