CARBOWAX™ SENTRY™ Polyethylene Glycol Flaked Product Now Available

Midland, MI - October 13, 2009

Dow Polyglycols and Surfactants, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company, is introducing a new variety of CARBOWAX™ SENTRY™ Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) that comes in flakes. The world’s leading polyethylene glycols manufacturer now offers new flaked grades that provide an alternative to granular products. The availability of the new flaked grades helps Dow better meet demand for solid PEGs. The differences in physical properties between flaked and granular grades are minimal. CARBOWAX™ SENTRY™ PEG 3350, 4000, and 8000 flakes are hard, waxy solids.

Dow is making this announcement during this week’s CPhI Worldwide 2009 in Madrid, Spain. The flaked variety of PEG represents a line extension for the customers who may have previously used the traditional granular product. Dow traditionally supplied only granular and powder CARBOWAX™ SENTRY™ solid PEG products. The new line of flaked CARBOWAX™ SENTRY™ is tied to an expansion of capacity that was announced by Dow in 2007.

The addition of a flaked product line opens up more supply to customers who can use this instead of solid or granular product. This new product offering helps Dow increase and improve the supply in what remains a very tight marketplace. This further reinforces Dow’s global industry leadership and commitment to customers.
