Univar Prepares to Launch New Line of Dow Surfactants of Their Customers Horgen, Switzerland - March 31, 2009

Dow's Polyglycols and Surfactants business announced that Univar Europe is preparing to launch the new surfactant, ECOSURF™ EH, to their industrial customers across Europe. ECOSURF™ EH is just the latest in a line of innovations from the Polyglycols and Surfactants business of Dow Chemical. ECOSURF™ SA Surfactants, a new generation of patented, biodegradable, nonionic surfactants was launched in 2007 and is now gaining traction in various applications. ECOSURF™ EH is a very effective family of surfactants which is suitable in various cleaning applications, such as hard surface and metal cleaning. It is anticipated that coatings, agriculture chemical and textile auxiliary formulators will also be interested to test the new products given their excellent wetting profile, surfactancy and environmental characteristics. James Ainscow, Surfactants Business Development Manager for Univar Europe said, "We are excited about the prospects for ECOSURF™ EH and look forward to further expanding our portfolio of Specialty Surfactants with Dow, which already include the TRITON™, TERGITOL™ and DOWFAX™ brands". Dow Product Manager for Polyglycols and Surfactants, John Davidson, said "We anticipate that formulators in Industrial and Household Cleaning and Coatings applications will be very interested in testing samples from this new family. We already know that performance is excellent - sometimes a step change in cost performance." Univar will be exhibiting at stand 405 in Hall 8 at the European Coating Show in Nuremberg from March 31st to April 2nd. Dow Surfactant Sales and Technical managers will also be present at the show.
