Dow Announces Price Increases for CARBOWAX™ PEGs and MPEGs and Other Polyglycols Effective December 1, 2007

The Dow Chemical Company announced today that its Polyglycols and Surfactants business will increase the North American list and off-list prices of certain CARBOWAX™ and CARBOWAX™ SENTRY™ Polyethylene Glycols (PEGs), Methoxypolyethylene Glycols (MPEGs) and other polyglycol products effective December 1, 2007. Price increases for select polyglycols will range from $.02/lb to $.05/lb, depending on the product and the grade. These increases are driven by strong demand and persistently high raw material costs.

CARBOWAX™ and CARBOWAX ™ SENTRY™ Polyethylene Glycols (PEGs) and Methoxypolyethylene Glycols (MPEGs) are a family of water soluble linear polymers formed by the addition reaction of ethylene oxide. They are used in applications such as adhesives, cosmetics/personal care, household products, pharmaceuticals, printing and inks, textiles, wood treating and more. Other polyglycol products from Dow are used in applications including foam control, lubricants, surfactants and other applications.
