Dow Announces New Prices for CARBOWAX™ and CARBOWAX™ SENTRY™ PEGs Effective November 1, 2007

The Dow Chemical Company will increase the North American list prices and/or off-list prices of 1450 – 8000 molecular weight CARBOWAX™ and CARBOWAX™ SENTRY™ Polyethylene Glycols (PEGs) effective November 1, 2007. Price increases range from $.10/lb USD to $.79/lb USD depending on the product grade. The price increases are driven by strong demand and persistently high raw material costs.

Background

Dow was the first company to commercialize the production of polyethylene glycols in 1940 and is still recognized around the world as a leader in the business. CARBOWAX™ and CARBOWAX ™ SENTRY™ Polyethylene Glycols (PEGS) are part of a family of water soluble linear polymers formed by the addition reaction of ethylene oxide. They are used in applications such as adhesives, cosmetics/personal care, household products, pharmaceuticals, printing and inks, textiles, wood treating and more. Other polyglycol products from Dow are used in applications including foam control, lubricants, surfactants and other applications.
