Background

DOWLEX™ 2377 Polyethylene Resin is an ethylene-octene-1 copolymer produced in our proprietary Solution process.

DOWLEX™ 2377 complies with EN ISO 24033 as a PE-RT or Polyethylene of Raised Temperature resistance, a class of polyethylene materials suitable for use in high temperature pipe applications.

It has a unique molecular structure with a controlled side chain distribution that provides excellent stress crack resistance properties combined with outstanding long term hydrostatic strength.

Pipes made of DOWLEX™ 2377 show good flexibility and excellent performance at elevated temperatures without the need for crosslinking, enabling pipe section to be fused with standard Polyethylene welding techniques. The resin offers excellent processability on traditional polyethylene pipe processing equipment. Typical extrusion temperatures for processing range from 190˚C to 230˚C.

The characteristics of DOWLEX™ 2377 enable it to meet many of the requirements for industrial pipe applications, including but not limited to:

  • Good chemical resistance
  • Wide operating temperature range (-20°C to 95°C)
  • Installation flexibility
  • Jointing by welding
  • Long-term thermal stability

Applications

DOWLEX 2377 PE Resin is designed for industrial pipe applications. It is well suited for geo-thermal pipes, district heating pipes, road cooling and heating pipes, bio-gas storage and management systems, sub-sea risers, swagelining, and multi-layer stainless steel pipe.
