Dow Presents Overview of Geomembrane Products and Applications at Geosynthetics Middle East in Dubai

Horgen, Switzerland - November 05, 2009

Dow Europe GmbH (“Dow”) announced today that it will deliver a presentation at the 2nd International Geosynthetics Middle East Conference (Dubai, UAE, November 10-11) titled “Geomembranes – a global Overview of Products and Applications.”  The presentation, at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 10, will provide an introduction to geomembranes, a term describing synthetic sheet-like structures commonly used as impermeable liners in geotechnical engineering applications for environmental protection, prevention of water loss from containment ponds, water collection, and water-proofing constructions.  It will also focus on potential applications for geomembranes in the Middle East, different geomembrane manufacturing processes, and specific national requirements and customer expectations regarding constituent materials. The presenter will be Detlef Schramm, Application Technology Leader for Pipes and Geomembranes at Dow Europe GmbH.

 Included in the presentation will be an overview of Dow product offerings for geomembranes in Europe, Latin America and North America, notably DOWLEX™ 2342M, a universal resin for landfill and concrete protection.  DOWLEX 2342M is at the forefront of standards definition for landfill geomembranes in Europe, having already received  approval for use in this application from BAM, the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing in Germany.  It offers excellent stress crack resistance, excellent processability and one of the widest welding condition windows for construction site installation.  HDPE 50045, Dow’s most recent material for pond lining and geonet applications, will also be highlighted.
