Dow to Raise Prices of Oxygenated Solvents Products
New Facility Will Produce STYROFOAM Brand Insulation Boards For The Building Industry

Midland, MI - December 11, 2007

The Dow Chemical Company has announced today that it will raise both list and off-list prices on a number of its Oxygenated Solvents products in North America effective January 1, 2008, or as contracts allow. The need for this increase is primarily driven by the continuous rise of raw material and energy costs and the tight supply in the raw material market.

“Over the past ten months, we have seen significant increases in most raw materials, especially in the last three months with oil, gasoline and olefins at record levels,” says Carol Miller, global business director, Solvents & Intermediates. “With the resulting significant increase in the cost of our products and challenging supply/demand dynamics, the price increases we have announced throughout the fourth quarter are imperative.”
