Leather dyeing formulations are similar to lacquers. They consist of a dye or pigment, a casein or nitrocellulose resin, and a solvent. Dow Oxygenated Solvents are used if the dye is casein carried. In this instance, a final protective coating of nitrocellulose is applied to the dyed leather. These products are used to aid in leveling, penetration, and evaporation control.
