Window cleaners consist primarily of water and a solvent concentration typically in the range of 4% to 12%. Window cleaning products, usually sprays, are designed not to leave smears or streaks on windows caused by traces of dirt or residues of non-volatile chemicals in the formulation. The use of Dow Oxygenated Solvents in window cleaning formulations reduces the quantity of solvent used without compromising cleaning performance.
Window and multi-purpose cleaners are also formulated as sprays. Since they are used on glass as well as other surfaces, their formulations are a compromise between window cleaners and kitchen cleaners. Multi-purpose cleaners used also on glass contain a higher solvent content and a slight increase in surfactant concentration than do window cleaners. These formulation differences improve their ability to remove grease without causing undue smearing when used on glass.
