Automotive Refinishes Automotive refinishing lacquers and enamels are generally conventional solvent-based coatings with less than 60% solids. Dow Oxygenated Solvents control the evaporation rate to create a tack-free condition and keep the film surface permeable so the latent solvent can evaporate. Future trends in the auto refinish area are toward increasing solid content and base coat/clear coat technology.
