Dow Water & Process Solutions to Present During the 21st North American Catalysis Society Meeting
Minneapolis - June 04, 2009
Dow Water & Process Solutions, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company (Dow) and a global leader in ion exchange resin technology, will present during the 21st North American Catalysis Society Meeting (NAM) in San Francisco, Calif., June 7-12, 2009. The event focuses on catalysis research and development as well as technological challenges facing the industry.
As part of poster session P-M-103 on “Heterogeneous Catalyst and Process for Production of Biodiesel,” Dow Water & Process Solutions scientist, Alfred Schultz, Ph.D., will discuss the advantages of AMBERLYST™ BD20 patent-pending catalyst technology and why it represents a significant breakthrough in the esterification of high-FFA feedstock on Monday, June 8, 2009, in the Pacific Concourse room at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco. The technology gives biodiesel producers the flexibility to use high-FFA oils including non-refined feedstocks, such as crude oils, rendered animal fat, and yellow/brown greases, which are inexpensive and readily available. The possibility of using alternative feedstock combined with lower water and energy consumption results in reduced operating costs for producers, and this innovative process is simple and safe while supplying high conversation rates, improved yields and pure biodiesel that meets global industry standards.
