Dow Announces Price Increase for Divinylbenzene (DVB)

Midland, MI - June 02, 2008

The Dow Chemical Company announced today a global price increase of $.25 per solution lb ($551/solution MT) for all grades of divinylbenzene (DVB). The increase will be effective July 1, 2008, or as permitted by contracts.

Divinylbenzene (DVB) is a versatile cross-linking agent that also improves polymer properties. It allows the production of materials not otherwise possible and enhances the properties of existing materials. Divinylbenzene has been used in the synthesis of photocurable protective coatings for wood, metal, glass, and plastics.
DVB is a mixture of isomers of divinylbenzene and ethylvinylbenzene. Dow provides three high-purity products with increasing amounts of cross-linker. DVB can be used to modify many polymers that have found utility in adhesives, ion exchange resins, specialty plastics, elastomers, and other applications.
