Dow Chosen as Most Admired Chemical Company in Brazil by Carta Capital Magazine
Dow Brazil Chosen by More than 1,200 Country Wide Executives Interviewed
São Paulo, Brasil - October 20, 2009
Dow was recognized as the Most Admired Company in the Chemical and Petrochemical sectors in Brazil, according to Carta Capital magazine's The Most Admired Companies in Brazil award. This is the second time that Dow is appointed as the Most Admired Company in Petrochemical sector in Brazil - the first time in 2007. The award ceremony took place on October 19, in São Paulo, with the presence of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
To elaborate the ranking of The Most Admired Companies in Brazil, Carta Capital magazine and InterScience Information and Applied Technology Consulting interviewed more than 1,200 executives from 600 companies located in Brazil, covering 47 economic sectors. The study is inspired by the ranking "The Most Admired Companies", organized by Fortune magazine in the United States, and evaluates criteria such as product quality, brand, innovation, human resources, ethics, business management, solidness, social responsibility and commitment to the local development, besides reputation and ability to compete globally.
"It's a great honor to be recognized by Brazilian professionals as a most admired company. This distinction reflects our employee's efforts to work in a innovative way, directly contributing to the success of our customers and to the growth of the chemical sector in Brazil. The award is another small step along our road to becoming the largest, the most profitable and the most respected chemical company in the world," said the president of Dow Latin America, Pedro Suarez.
Dow has been collecting awards in several areas this year. In August, the Company was selected by the Government of São Paulo to receive in its first edition the State Seal of Diversity ("Selo Paulista de Diversidade"), which was created to highlight and promote structured programs with the objective to promote workforce diversity across the state of São Paulo. Dow Brazil also earned the 13th straight recognition as one of the best companies to work for in Brazil, according to "The 150 Best Companies To You Work For" Guide, published annually by major Brazilian business and HR magazines Exame and Você S/A (Abril Editions). This recognition consolidates Dow's position as one of three companies - the only in the chemical industry - present in all editions of the Guide.
Distinctions like these underline the efforts of more than 50 years of commitment and investments in Brazil. Dow has grown to be one of the largest chemical companies in Brazil, with 2,400 employees operating countrywide.
