Dow Announces Leadership Transitions at Dow Advanced Materials and Dow AgroSciences

Midland, MI - July 29, 2009

The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW) today announced that Pierre Brondeau, President and Chief Executive Officer of Dow Advanced Materials, has decided to retire. He will be succeeded by Jerome Peribere, currently President and Chief Executive Officer of Dow AgroSciences. Antonio Galindez, currently Vice President of the Crops Global Business Unit of Dow AgroSciences, will assume leadership of Dow AgroSciences.

This team has delivered on our aggressive integration targets, meeting cost synergies and building on a legacy of innovation for both companies."

Peribere, a 30-year Dow veteran is well-positioned to take the leadership helm of Dow Advanced Materials.  "Jerome has been instrumental in the success of Dow AgroSciences. Under his leadership, Dow AgroSciences has achieved a superior level of innovation and growth, and we look forward to him continuing his impressive record at Dow Advanced Materials," said Liveris.  "We also have great confidence in Jerome's successor at the helm of Dow AgroSciences, Antonio Galindez, who leads the Crops Global Business Unit, which has been a key driver of the growth achieved by Dow AgroSciences. Antonio also leads the efforts behind bringing SmartStax™ technology to market in 2010. We have every confidence that he will build on Jerome's success."

A full leadership transition from Brondeau to Peribere is planned for the next 60 days.  "I am proud of how quickly our team integrated key processes and people and exceeded our synergy targets. Peribere has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Dow AgroSciences since 2004.  He is also a member of the Management Committee of The Dow Chemical Company. He has been with the Company more than 30 years and worked throughout the world, including the Middle East, Africa, Europe and the United States in a variety of roles throughout the agricultural business.

Galindez has been Vice President, Crops Global Business Unit since 2006. He currently has responsibilities for both the agrochemicals and seeds businesses within Dow AgroSciences. He has been with the Company since 1983 serving in various marketing and business leadership positions throughout Europe including Vice President, Europe, Latin America, and Pacific.
