NPE2012, ORLANDO - April 02, 2012
The Dow Chemical Company (Dow) announced today the expansion of its line of SEALUTION™ Peel Polymers for the performance packaging market with the addition of the SEALUTION™ 210 Peel Polymer. Founded on the pillars of reliability, versatility and ease of use, the complete lineup of these fully-formulated, polyolefin-based sealants offer consistent peel strength over time and temperature while remaining reliable during processing and end use.
SEALUTION™ Peel Polymers, including the new SEALUTION™ 210, offer benefits across the board with processing efficiencies for the converter, packaging line speed and sealing confidence for packagers, and easy-opening convenience for the consumer. Dow developed the ready-to-use, single pellet formulations to require no online blending, which helps to reduce errors, defects, and scrap and offers the potential for both time and cost reductions. The easy-opening seals can help reduce package defects such as splitting, tearing, shredding, and stringing.
"As consumers continue to desire more convenient packaging, brand owners are looking for consistent peel seal performance, and the SEALUTION™ Peel Polymers offer both with characteristics such as efficiency, simplicity and functionality," said Greg Bunker, Senior Group Marketing Manager, North America for Food and Specialty Packaging at Dow. "We work closely with our customers to offer innovative solutions that help enable next generation packaging. SEALUTION™ Peel Polymers are a direct result of this ongoing collaborative effort and the market need for a dependable and versatile peel packaging solution with enhanced consumer appeal."
Brand owners and converters now have the ability to achieve package integrity and hermetic seals in conjunction with reliable, easy-open functionality for peel seal package applications including dry food liners, high clarity lidstock and high clarity lamination films. Furthermore, using SEALUTION™ Peel Polymers can offer brand owners and packagers high hot tack strength to help improve package integrity during filling, efficient processing for the added ability to achieve fast fills and excellent packaging aesthetics for greater shelf appeal.
Additionally, the excellent clarity and transparency of SEALUTION™ Peel Polymers enables manufacturers to produce packaging with enhanced aesthetics and consumer appeal, with a potential to be fully recyclable when a 100% polyolefin structure is used.
For brand owners, the peel strength of packages sealed using SEALUTION™ Peel Polymers remains consistent over time and temperature, even after aging and can reduce defects through lower processing variability and increase processing consistency and efficiencies. Formulations are adaptable to package requirements, and the SEALUTION™ Peel Polymers offer the versatility to peel from both polyethylene and polypropylene substrates.
