Shanghai - February 28, 2012
Dow Personal Care, a business of The Dow Chemical Company (Dow), received the 2012 China Personal Care & Cosmetics Innovation Award for EcoSmooth™ Satin conditioning polymer at the Personal Care and Homecare Ingredients (PCHi) event currently underway in Shanghai. This is the second award for Dow’s EcoSmooth™ technology platform since CPCCIA was founded by Ringier Trade Media in 2011.
“The CPCCIA award for EcoSmooth™ Satin conditioning polymer illustrates Dow’s industry innovation, technology excellence and dedication to customer success,” said Lionel Genix, global marketing manager for Dow Personal Care. “Dow is continuously investing in R&D and works closely with customers to meet the current and anticipate the future consumer demands of the personal care industry. The cationic compatibility of EcoSmooth™ Satin allows formulators to develop soap-based body washes that offer conditioning properties.”
“EcoSmooth™ Satin has heightened China’s personal care industry by creating new market opportunities for formulators while also enabling formulators to meet the current Chinese consumer demand for conditioning soap-based body washes,” said Mr. Michael R Hay, President, Ringier Trade Media.
EcoSmooth™ Satin, the newest conditioning ingredient from Dow Personal Care, allows formulators to create conditioning body wash and shampoo formulations. With EcoSmooth Satin, formulators are able to meet the preference for soap-based body washes. Unlike conventional cationic conditioning technologies, EcoSmooth™ Satin is compatible with the high pH environment of soap-based body washes and provides great conditioning performance on skin. EcoSmooth™ Satin can also be used in conditioning shampoo formulations as an effective alternative technology to complement or substitute conventional conditioning technologies at attractive price levels.
Dow Personal Care is exhibiting its innovative products and leading technologies for a wide range of personal care applications at PCHi 2012. In addition to EcoSmooth™ Satin, Dow has also launched OPULYN™ PQG opacifier to the Asian personal care market. OPULYN™ PQG, a novel opacifying technology, allows formulators to create creamy conditioning body washes, shampoos and liquid hand soaps. Designed to be compatible with cationic ingredients, OPULYN™ PQG provides formulators with the tool to address the formulation challenges met with traditional opacifiers. With OPULYN™ PQG, formulators no longer have to compromise between conditioning benefits and creamy textures in their cleansing formulations.
“Dow Personal Care is happy to introduce the newest innovative technologies, share the latest market insights to the Asian market at PCHi,” said Clara Goh, Regional Marketing Manager. “Dow Personal Care has a very strong commitment to China, one of the fastest growing personal care markets in the world, and we look forward to collaborating with brand owners and manufacturers in developing the next generation of personal care products to meet the increasing needs of Chinese consumers.”
