Dow Water & Process Solutions has produced DOW™ FILMTEC™ membranes in Minnesota since 1977. We are grateful for the support of our community and the contributions of our employees and retirees, which have enabled our longevity and prosperity.

The following timeline celebrates our past achievements against our commitments to community success, human health and safety, environmental stewardship, economic prosperity and growth. In this same proud tradition, we look forward to a future filled with progress and continuing to deliver against these commitments.

1977: FilmTec Corporation is incorporated to develop reverse osmosis membranes
1978: DOW™ FILMTEC™ membranes are introduced to the market
1980: The first FILMTEC element sale is completed
1981: Opened first manufacturing facility in Edina, Minn.
1982: Production on the first membrane machine begins; the 8040 element is introduced to the market
1983: Production of the 40-inch wide membrane begins
1985: The Dow Chemical Company acquires FilmTec Corporation, establishing Dow Water Solutions
1987: Manufacturing is streamlined through the introduction of semi-automated element rolling; Edina Operations receives ISO 9001 certification
1989: Implementation of a barcode system begins
1991: Plant expansion begins with the introduction of the Automated Home Drinking Water Machine, or SEMC 1
1994: Plant expansion continues with the introduction of the Automated Large Element Rolling Machine, or AMEC 1
1997: Edina Operations expansion continues with the introduction of the AMEC 2 and AMEC 3
1998: Production begins on the second membrane machine
1999: The 5198 76th Street location in Edina is leased as a warehouse facility
2000: Manufacturing expands with the purchase of the 5230 73rd Street site in Edina
2001: Plant expansion continues with the addition of AMEC 4 and AMEC 5; a third membrane machine is placed into production
2003: Edina Operations expansion continues with the addition of the AMEC 6
2004: Dow Water Solutions purchases the 5400 Dewey Hill Road location in Edina
2005: Global headquarters and warehouse operations are relocated to 5400 Dewey Hill Road; plant expansion continues in Edina with the addition of the first fabrication operating unit
2006: Plant expansion continues with the addition of the second and third fabrication operating units
2007: Dow Water Solutions celebrates its 30-year anniversary in the water industry; production begins on the fourth membrane machine
2008: Dow Water Solutions expands, moving its global headquarters and warehouse operations to 7600 Metro Boulevard in Edina; expansion continues with the purchase of the 7215 Cahill Road facility in Edina
2009: Expansion continues with the fifth membrane machine put into production and the addition of SEMC 3
2009: The Dow Chemical Company acquires Rohm and Haas, forming the subsidiary Dow Water & Process Solutions, the world leader in providing innovative water and process solutions
